About us

Hālau ʻO Ke Ānuenue is a proud and deeply rooted hālau hula that has been carried through over five generations of kumu, haumāna, and ʻohana. Our hālau is more than a place of learning; it is a home for culture, connection, and the continuation of Hawaiian traditions. With every step, chant, and gesture, we honor the sacred art of hula and the ancestors who have passed this knowledge down through the decades. The heart of our hālau beats strongest in the memory of our beloved Uncle and Kumu Hula, Glenn Kelena Vasconcellos. Uncle Glenn was more than a teacher—he was the embodiment of aloha, a living example of dedication to hula, ʻohana, and community. His love and legacy will forever be the foundation upon which we stand. Through his teachings and spirit, he instilled values that continue to guide us today.

Kumu Hula Ranell

Under the guidance of Kumu Hula Ranell Sioloa, and with the unwavering support of her daughters and ʻohana, Hālau ʻO Ke Ānuenue steps into its next chapter. Kumu Ranell brings both experience and deep familial connection to the role, helping lead our hālau with grace, passion, and cultural responsibility. Together, we are committed to preserving the spirit and excellence that Uncle Glenn fostered. We invite you to join our hālau, whether you're returning or just beginning your hula journey. Here, you’ll find a community grounded in love, tradition, and the unbroken line of Hawaiian knowledge passed down through generations.

When one wants to dance the hula,
bashfulness should be left at home.
E aʻa i ka hula, a waiho i ka
hilahila ma ka hale.
